The remaining three illustrations portray the progression of arachnoiditis showing A. The irritated arachnoid layer and spinal nerves; B. Increased scarring and adhesions bind the arachnoid and begin encapsulating the spinal nerves; and C. Calcification and hardening of the spinal nerves.
