Neck Surgery - C5-6 Anterior Cervical Discectomy (Diskectomy) and Spinal Fusion. Shows a herniated disc compressing the thecal sac (dura mater) with bone spurs in the region of the spinal nerve root. Surgical steps for spine surgery: 1. Harvesting a bone graft from the left iliac crest; 2. A surgical incision at the base of the neck; 3. Removing the herniated intervertebral disc material and osteophytes; and 4. Placing the graft at the C5-6 interspace for spinal fusion.
