Complete Colectomy (Colon Removal) with Ileostomy Surgery. This medical exhibit compares normal abdominal anatomy with a post-colectomy appearance. The post-operative condition shows the large colon having been removed, with a residual rectal stump. This image also indicates a small portion of the small intestine has been passed through the abdominal wall to create a ileostomy stoma.
